MANDATE AND FUNCTIONS
Core Mandate of the Ministry:
1. Significantly reduce all forms of violence and related death rates by way of prosecution of offenders and compensation of victims.
2. End abuses, human trifurcation, and all forms of exploitation in the society.
3. Develop, sustain and promote accountable and transparent institutions at all levels.
4. Provide access to legal information that promote law and order and respect for human rights in accordance with State, National and International agreements.
5. Promote the provision of legal identities, including vital registration.
Primary Responsibilities/Functions:
1. To prosecute criminal cases for punishment of offenders and compensation for victims.
2. To undertake litigation of State Civil Cases.
3. To facilitate Alternative Disputes Resolution.
4. To provide Legal Drafting Services.
5. To enforce Citizen’s Rights and defend the public.
6. To plan an implement programs for proper functioning of the Justice Sector.
7. To provide Legal Advisory Services.
8. To administer Public Trust.
